FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE (R) LD30

Supporting Small and Local Businesses
As a business owner, I understand how challenging it has become to operate in Washington. Businesses are the backbone of our communities across the 30th Legislative District and all of Washington. Rising B&O taxes, increasing payroll costs, regulatory burdens, and complex compliance requirements make it difficult for many businesses to survive.
Over the past decade, Washington has fallen from being one of the more competitive states for business to near the bottom nationally. Businesses are now failing within their first five years at a rate of 59%, the highest in the country. That means fewer thriving local shops, fewer family-owned businesses, fewer stable jobs in our neighborhoods, and more businesses closing their doors.
We need policies that encourage entrepreneurs, family-owned businesses, small businesses, and community-serving companies to start, grow, and stay in our state. I will support responsible local decisions, reduce unnecessary barriers, and advocate for an environment where these businesses can survive and thrive.

Affordability and Strong Families
Families across Washington are feeling the strain of constant rising taxes, fuel costs, housing, groceries, utilities, and childcare. Every time families begin to catch up, if they can even catch up, another increase hits their household budget.
When everyday expenses rise faster than wages, families are forced to make difficult choices. That is not sustainable. Families shouldn't have to struggle this hard to simply survive.
As your representative, I will vote no on new taxes that burden working families and small and local businesses. We cannot keep asking households to tighten their belts while government spending continues to expand.
Olympia must stop putting financial pressure on families and businesses because it cannot control its own spending. Government should live within its means, just like the people it serves.
Strong families build strong neighborhoods. Strong small and local businesses build strong communities. Our policies should protect affordability, prioritize public safety, and restore responsible budgeting that puts Washington residents first.

Government Accountability and Responsible Spending
Recent audits highlight serious gaps. The Department of Children, Youth, and Families struggled to track more than $415 million in federal childcare funding distributed to thousands of providers. The Department of Community and Human Services awarded over $1.8 billion in grants in 2023 and 2024, more than double the amount in prior years, increasing the risk of mismanagement across multiple contracts.
Taxpayer dollars must be tracked, measured, and evaluated for results. This requires independent audits with real follow through, transparent reporting the public can easily access, and clear performance standards to ensure programs are achieving their intended outcomes.
Government accountability means asking tough questions, demanding measurable results, and ensuring every dollar is properly managed. Washington residents deserve transparency, oversight, and leadership that prioritizes responsible stewardship of public funds.

Keeping Communities Safe
Families in Federal Way deserve to feel safe walking our streets, visiting parks, and running local businesses. In recent years, the city has seen 534 violent crimes and 5,099 property crimes, which means roughly 1 in 200 residents could be affected each year. Crime isn’t just a threat to safety — it costs our community an estimated $84 million annually, or about $2,240 per household, through stolen property, damage, and the expenses of policing, courts, and jails.
Washington ranks 51st nationally in police officers per capita, with just 1.36 officers per 1,000 residents. That means fewer officers to respond quickly, patrol neighborhoods, and prevent crime proactively. I will support fully staffing our police, holding repeat offenders accountable, and ensuring behavioral health teams work alongside law enforcement to create safer streets.
Being a voice for public safety means advocating for resources, policies, and strategies that protect families, strengthen neighborhoods, and help local businesses thrive. Safer streets benefit everyone in our community.
